Turkey plays host to Corrie's Sally Whittaker and family

Coronation Street star Sally Whittaker and her family are currently taking a break off the Turkish coast as the actress takes a break from the demanding filming schedule of the television drama.
The 46-year-old actress, who plays Sally Webster in the ITV soap opera, has been spotted enjoying her holiday on a yacht with her three children and husband Tim Dynevor, an Emmerdale scriptwriter.
According to the Daily Mail, which has published pictures of Ms Whitaker enjoying the sunny weather in a flower-print green bikini, the actress is happy her children are well behaved unlike her onscreen pair Rosie and Sophie Webster.
She told the newspaper: "Thank God they are nothing like Rosie or Sophie. I don't know what I would do if they were.
"They all have their moments but they are angels in comparison to those two of mine on Corrie. It is one thing after another with them. They are so naughty, aren't they?"
Boasting a variety of ruined castles and palaces of great empires from the past, Turkey is an ideal holiday destination for the entire family and has something to suit every taste.
The country has a rich and violent history thanks to the centuries of battles that have taken place there, as different realms including the Ottoman Empire jostled for power.
Home to the famous Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, which connects Europe and Asia, Turkey is a historical marvel thanks to the likes of Alexander the Great and Achilles' battle against the Trojans.
Worth visiting is the country's largest city Istanbul, which is a vibrant metropolis boasting a mixture of modern architecture and grand Ottoman mosques that give it a unique atmosphere.
According to Lonely Planet, "the city's over-abundance of important historic buildings and exciting new art galleries and museums provides visitors with more than enough to see during the day".
However, when the sun sets a different environment emerges as the city "swings into high-velocity [and] mega-stylish action".
An increasing number of trendy restaurants, bars, galleries and clubs have emerged in the city in recent times as interest from the international fashion and design press peaks.
History buffs will, however, want to visit the ancient Greek city of Ephesus which, apart from being the best-preserved classical city in the eastern Mediterranean, is one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world.
Lonely Planet recommends visiting the former Roman trading hub early in the day or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat and crowds.
Other notable places to visit include Safranbolu, which boasts an unspoilt Ottoman townscape, the market town of Bergama dating back to Trojan times and Gallipoli, which is home to the great battlefields of Acropolis and Asclepion.
