Soap star flaunts goodies while movie stars cavort in beach resorts
This week, former Eastenders star Natalie Cassidy wowed soap fans as she donned a skimpy bathing suit and basked in the sun on a beach in the Algarve, Portugal.
The 24-year-old actress is better known as the dowdy Sonia Jackson on the BBC1 soap but is now carving out a name for herself as a fitness guru. Cassidy now has one of the biggest-selling celebrity fitness DVDs and to prove her new vocation, the ex-soap star flaunted her new svelte physique.
Cassidy, who stands at a mere five foot four inches, has dropped from a size 16 to an incredible size eight, shedding over two stone. She attributes her weight loss success to a rigourous fitness regimen with personal trainer Dee Thresher and following a strict diet.
She will certainly have her work cut out steering clear of calorific foods while on her holiday, as the Algarve is noted for its rich and varied cuisine and fine eateries. Eating out is so cheap in this region that it is commonplace among both residents and tourist.
Lunches are typically long and leisurely and the food in restaurants is of very high quality. There are many good restaurants in the Monchique area which are known for their irresistible grilled sardines, swordfish, bass and gourmet lobster.
One person who doesn't have to worry about counting food points is actress Sienna Miller, who was spotted cavorting with husband-to-be Rhys Ifans in Mexico on Tuesday.
The enamoured couple first visited the sun-drenched Central American destination on a romantic holiday last year and were so taken by the exotic country that they have returned many times are now planning their wedding in Mexico.
According to reports, Miller and Ifans have their hearts set on hiring a private beach resort for a week on the tropical island of Isla Mujeres, eight miles off the coast of Cancun.
The private beach resort comes complete with a large ten-bedroom villa, boat ramp and several guest houses, which are believed to be owned by a close friend of Miller's whom she met on the set of a recent film.
Due to the resort's location, much of the food for the wedding will be shipped in from Cancun's mainland. After the ceremony, which may take place on the beach, guests at the wedding will be shuttled back to the villa where they will dine on traditional Mexican dishes, washed down with Mexico's finest tequilas.
Ifans, who at 39 is 13 years older than Miller, asked her to marry him in August. He sent the Factory Girl star a coded message in Welsh, which reportedly read "marry the misfit".
The couple, who is said to be very private, is looking for a home in Oxford as well as a cottage in Wales. They jetted back to Los Angeles today, where Miller is currently filming GI Joe with co-stars Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum.
