Singer enjoys London shopping, while ex-football star frolics in Barbados
High-pitched multi award-winning R n B diva Mariah Carey is currently enjoying a stint in London as she promotes her new album E=MC2. The 38-year-old songstress stopped traffic and attracted hordes of screaming fans as she hit the town during an afternoon shopping spree.
Oxford Street practically came to a stand-still as the star descended on London's Selfridges to sign copies of her new CD. Police barriers prevented vehicles from driving through the busy central London road as scores of dedicated fans, many of whom had slept in line overnight, queued to catch sight of the singing legend.
The night before, Mariah stopped by at Gordon Ramsay's trendy Mayfair restaurant, a known celebrity hangout. Arriving at the fashionably un-godly hour of 2.30am, the singer was met with throngs of fans, one of whom presented her with a bouquet of pink roses.
Mariah, who allegedly has extremely demanding ways, requested that a £5,000 antique table be flown in directly from New York for her to sit at while she signed her albums for fans. According to reports, the singer also demanded a £1,000 throne, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Fiji water and Trident chewing gum.
Meanwhile, singer Kylie Minogue flew to New York where she is trying to conquer the US market. In between a demanding schedule, the Australian singer has been enjoying some well-deserved respite at the Mercer Hotel, owned by Uma Thurman's ex Andre Balazs. The Mercer is located in the trendy SoHo district, which is a known magnet for arty types and offers plenty of cultural pursuits to enjoy.
Much further south, football pundit Gary Lineker was enjoying his fifth holiday of the year at his luxury Barbados villa with girlfriend Danielle Bux.
The enamoured pair were spotted basking in the Caribbean heat with Lineker's four teenage sons and Bux's six-year-old daughter. The former England football star owns a beautiful beachside villa on the Caribbean island which he uses as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life in the UK.
Lineker, 47, and his 28-year-old partner were also seen enjoying fun and frolics in the warm Caribbean surf with their children and tearing through the waves in a speedboat.
The Match of the Day presenter met Bux, who works as a model, at a blind date set up by mutual friends last autumn. The couple now live together in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
Lineker and Bux have stayed at the Barbados villa twice previously and have also enjoyed romantic breaks in various exotic locales including Rome and Florida.
