Portman and Pattinson hit it off in LA

The celebrity romance rumour mill is churning again this week after it emerged that Natalie Portman and Robert Pattinson hit it off at a pre-Oscars party last month.
Portman was reportedly spotted in deep conversation with the Twilight actor at the Sunset Tower in Los Angeles as Hollywood A-listers prepared for the red carpet event.
Star Wars star Portman, who split from her musician boyfriend Devendra Banhart last September, apparently made a point of chatting to the 22-year-old at the Vanity Fair party.
One of Pattnison's friends told E! online: "[Portman] seemed really into him, and went right up to say hello once she spotted him."
The insider added that the attention was welcomed by Pattinson, who spent much of the evening experiencing a bout of nerves, which were calmed by "whisky and Natalie Portman".
Another confidant explained: "He seemed to be enjoying every minute of it. She dominated his attention for most of the evening."
Indeed, sources close to the situation have also revealed that the pair left the party separately but have vowed to keep in touch, sparking rumours of a possible romance.
Portman has been linked with a number of new men since her split from Banhart, including Colin Farrell and Ryan Gosling, who has split from Rachel McAdams for the second time.
However, it is seemingly Pattinson - whose new film Little Ashes is due out this month - who made the biggest impression on the 27-year-old.
Nevertheless, his timid feelings continued into the main event the following evening, as he appeared uneasy when taking the stage alongside Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfield to present an award.
Los Angeles has long been a favourite destination for the stars, but Britons also take holidays in the city in their droves, attracted to the versatile experience it offers.
Whether the main draw is the swanky neighbourhoods, plush hotels, impressive beaches or star-studded events such as the Vanity Fair party, Los Angeles epitomises the American dream.
Everything is heightened and accentuated in the city's vibrant and creative atmosphere, which is described by the Lonely Planet as being "like pushing the fast-forward button on the movie of your life".
Of course, any Britons planning to head across the Atlantic in the near future should remember to ensure they book up holiday insurance to protect themselves against any unfortunate circumstances on their trip.
