Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee attract Barbados holiday attention
It might be a few years since Paul Daniels has been seen wowing viewers with his magic tricks on primetime TV, but his latest holiday excursion has certainly attracted the nation's attention.
While he is used to being watched by millions of people each week, he might not have been prepared for the scrutiny he was put under after being snapped on a vacation wearing what can only be described as questionable attire.
Looking very much like the typical Brit abroad, Daniels was spotted on his Caribbean holiday out and about sporting a panama hat, a blue polo shirt, matching blue socks pulled up his shins, bright red shorts and a pair of black loafers.
Meanwhile, his wife and magic assistant Debbie McGee was caught wearing nothing but a revealing bikini and sunglasses as she paddled in the sea on the sunshine holiday.
The couple have a holiday home in Barbados, which is a popular location for both celebrities and ordinary holidaymakers alike.
This is particularly true in the dry season, which lasts from December to May, when temperatures range from around 21C to 31C.
Those who cannot call on a holiday bungalow to provide accommodation need not despair, as there are many top-class hotels on the island.
Indeed, Barbados is very tourist-friendly, with many activities on offer including duty-free shopping, scuba diving, golf, helicopter rides, sightseeing and cave exploration.
However, based on their unofficial holiday snaps, which appeared in the Daily Mail, Debbie and Paul's fondness for the island stems from their love of the glorious beaches which line its shore.
The coastline along the south and west coasts in particular are among the most spectacular in the Caribbean, with the sheltered conditions lending themselves well to walks along the white sand interrupted only by the occasional cluster of coral.
While the pictures of Debbie and Paul appear to have caused quite a stir, Paul, for one, is unrepentant.
He has launched a staunch defence of his wife in his online blog, suggesting she is every inch as desirable as another celebrity of the same age who is not given quite as much stick for appearing in a state of undress.
Alluding to two photographs he took of her on the holiday, he remarked: "She looks a lot better than Madonna, or is that just my opinion? Who cares?"
