She's the all-American socialite named after a European capital city, but Paris Hilton certainly likes to spread her wings further afield.
The platinum blonde star enjoyed a trip to the northern African country of Egypt, where she spent a few days in the capital Cairo shopping and frequenting the key tourist sites.
Snap-happy Paris posed in front of Egypt's most iconic landmark - the Pyramids - for photographers wearing shades and a maxi dress, looking every inch the holidaymaker.
But it was not all play for Paris, as she also had some business engagements to fulfill - the star was being paid to open the Automech 2010 car show in Cairo.
However, eyebrows were raised at what Paris chose to wear during her stay in the country - her backless dresses were complete with plunging necklines, flaunting the Muslim nation's conservative dress code for women.
On a
day trip to Giza, the location of the Pyramids, she even dared to give locals a glimpse of her thigh as she mounted a camel for the cameras.
She struck dramatic red carpet poses as she pouted next to statues of the Pharaohs and ancient hieroglyphics and artifacts.
Thankfully, by the time Paris made it back to the big city she had toned down her outfit and donned a pair of black leggings and a pink vest top for her visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
The Foreign Office advises women visiting Egypt to dress conservatively, covering their upper arms and legs - although on the beaches of holiday resort Sharm El Sheik these rules are often more lenient.
Other tourists didn't seem to mind Paris' liberal approach to clothing attire and she stopped and chatted to fans as she went around her sightseeing tour.
Afterwards, Paris Tweeted: "Paris is in Cairo! Loves it... I Love Egypt... Egypt is amazing."
With the rise of cheap all-inclusive packages in recent years, Egypt has become a popular holiday destination not just for the rich and famous but also for the mass market.
While many visitors remain on the beaches of Sharm El Sheik, Egypt has a plethora of cultural attractions for tourists to enjoy dating back to the first great civilisation.
Between the Pyramids, the minarets and the famous River Nile, visitors are offered the chance to get a sneak peak into the history of the Pharaonic nations, ancient Greeks, Romans, Christians and Arab dynasties, whose lives have all touched this north African nation.
