Noemie Lenoir made her name as the girl with the wide smile in the Marks and Spencer lingerie adverts.
But when personal tragedy hit her life after her long-term relationship hit the rocks, it seemed as though that happiness she once radiated might have gone for good.
Yet, after a tough period, the French model has bounced back and was pictured looking like a vision of happiness as she frolicked on the beach in Miami, Florida.
Perhaps this was something to do with the fact that Noemie was snapped with a mystery man by her side, who looked every inch a match for the poster girl.
Noemie proved she had every reason to be smiling as she waded out of the sea, parading her ab-tastic, perfectly toned body - that is surely the envy of every other 30-year-old around the world.
Once she had finished on the beach, Noemie was seen reading a copy of the French magazine Psychologie, wearing a pair of black jeans and a top of the same colour.
Her five-year-old son Kelyan, who she has with footballer Claude Makelele, was not present on the
holiday, giving mum some time to recuperate.
Kelyan lives with his Paris Saint-Germain footballer father on a fulltime basis.
Perhaps one of the reasons Noemie took a holiday in the sunny US was to reflect on the difficult year she had in 2009.
After her relationship with Makelele broke down she made an attempted suicide bid with a potentially lethal concoction of pills and alcohol - her life was only saved when she was discovered by a passer-by in the outskirts of Paris and rushed to hospital.
However, if there was a place to restore some sunshine into her life and refresh her spirits then Miami will certainly do the trick.
The south-east Floridian resort is a humid cultural melting pot, which has Latin, Caribbean, Jewish and red neck roots with a thriving gay and lesbian scene to boot.
And for people who want to party, from South Beach to Fort Lauderdale clubs, it's all here, while beach parties galore pop up all over town during the summer months.
Furthermore, holidaymakers who feel like getting out of the heat and taking a rest from topping up their tan on the beach and sipping martinis in swish bars can take a trip to the Everglades.
This is one of North America's most unique eco-systems and the flooded wetland is a fertile breeding ground for life.
What is more, the Florida Keys are a short drive away, offering a more chilled out vibe than busy central Miami.
But for resting Noemi, the beach seems like the ideal place to look out to the horizon and find some holiday contentment.
