Natalie Imbruglia takes holiday in Morocco
Australian singer-songwriter Natalie Imbruglia recently chose West Africa as her holiday destination where she was spotted topping up her tan with a friend.

The singer, who is also a model and actress, was on the beach in Agadir, a major city in south-west Morocco that lies on the coast on the Atlantic Ocean.

According to the Daily Mail, which published pictures of the 34-year-old musician on holiday, Ms Imbruglia could not be parted from her luxuries despite being on holiday in Africa as she accessorised with a Chanel handbag and some gold earrings.

An ethnically diverse nation, Morocco is a vibrant holiday destination boasting a rich culture and civilisation that has over the years seen it become an intersection between Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Morocco is home to cities that boast relations with Hollywood such as Casablanca and Tangier, which visitors to the country may wish to check out while holidaying in the country.

When it comes to cinematic associations, Casablanca is best remembered for being the location of Rick's Cafe Americain, a night club owned by Rick Blaine played by Humphrey Bogart in the 1942 film bearing the city's name, which also starred Ingrid Bergman.

Tangier on the other hand was recently featured in The Bourne Ultimatum where former CIA assassin Jason Bourne clashed with fellow hired gun Desh Bouksani in one of the most gripping punch-ups in recent cinema history.

Visitors may also want to drop into Marrakesh, which is a popular tourism hotspot further into the country, away from the expansive coast. Home to the largest traditional market in Morocco, the city is near the Atlas Mountains.

People visiting the city should ensure they check out the established market, which also happens to have one of the busiest squares in Africa known as Djemaa el Fna.

During the day holidaymakers can see everything from acrobats and story-tellers to water sellers, dancers and musicians in action. When the sun sets a huge open air restaurant comes to life as food stalls are set up.

Back in Agadir, visitors can also enjoy a vibrant nightlife, especially during the summer, according to Trip Advisor, which recommends taking a leisurely walk "along the seaside terrace, with sounds of the surf to one side, and sounds of laughter, friends, and enjoyment on the other".

Cafes, bars, and "a nightclub that might keep revelers reveling until the wee hours of the morning" can be found on the terrace.

Meanwhile, people visiting destinations such as Morocco may want to sign up to a new email and mobile SMS text service called Travel Buddy, which was launched recently by ABTA – The Travel Association.

The service is aimed at ensuring members get vital holiday advice after they book their holiday and when emergencies occur.
