Moyles says yes to Bahamas' sun and sand
The Islands of the Bahamas are amongst the most beautiful places that holidaymakers can choose if they are looking for relaxation and BBC Radio 1 presenter Chris Moyles did just that a few days ago.

Following the last holiday that saw the outspoken DJ panting his way up the 19,000 ft Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for Comic Relief, Mr Moyles may have wanted something more sedate.

The DJ was spotted taking in the turquoise waters and white sandy beaches of the Bahamas with long-term girlfriend Sophie Waite.

It is easy to see why the radio personality may have opted for Bahamas as the islands, which are located southeast of the US in the Atlantic Ocean, are famed for their tranquilly and beauty.

According to Bahamas.com, "the moment your toes touch sand and your gaze meets water, you know you're in the islands of the Bahamas".

The factors that make the destination ideal for holidaying include its "comfortable ease", adds the website, which also sites "the instant sense of belonging" as attributes.

Holidaymakers visiting this destination have a wide choice of islands to explore such as Grand Bahama Island, which is not only breathtaking but boasts many ecological attractions waiting to be discovered.

These include the longest underwater limestone cave systems in the world and a variety of flowers as well as a platform to see the islands' six ecosystems.

Another island worth checking out is Nassau/Paradise Island, which apart from being the nation's capital, boasts extraordinarily beautiful physical and geographical features.

For holidaymakers wishing to immerse themselves in local culture, this is the place to be. Local fish markets offering fresh products can be found here, with shops, restaurants and boutiques also within easy reach.

Water sports lovers have a lot of attractions competing for their interest, with diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing among others all available.

Meanwhile, travellers have been advised by Moneynet.co.uk to be money-wise when preparing to jet out for their breaks and order their currency in advance in order to benefit from better exchange rates.

According to the organisation's Andrew Hagger, many people dedicate a lot of time to securing the best flights deals, hotel and car hire hence "it makes sense to spend a bit of time to ensure you don't pay over the odds for your holiday spending money".

To achieve this, simple measures such as taking out a prepaid travel card can offer great savings because this will prevent them from incurring levies applied to debit and credit cards for ATM withdrawals.

Before heading off to sunny destinations such as the Bahamas, it may be worthwhile to ensure current account, credit card balances and limits are checked in addition to finding out when the card expires.

Letting your bank know that you are going to be away is also a wise move because the institutions may block an account if they suspect foreign withdrawals are fraudulent, which can be disastrous.
