McCartney and Shevell enjoy Mexico break
If all you need is love, it would appear that Paul McCartney won't be left wanting for anything while he is with girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

The Beatles legend was spotted by photographers taking a stroll along a beach in Mexico last week, looking happy to be hand-in-hand with the wealthy American heiress.

The pair, who have been an item since November 2007, soaked up the new year sunshine and ventured into the sea, where they laughed together and jumped over the waves.

McCartney, now 66, spoke of the difficulties of growing old gracefully in the band's classic 1967 single 'When I'm Sixty-Four'.

However, it seemed as though the only reference to those heady days - when the Beatles were revered around the world - on this occasion were his swimming shorts, which looked faded and misshapen.

Of course, McCartney can no doubt be forgiven for adopting such a young-at-heart attitude after the anguish he experienced during his bitter divorce with Heather Mills last year.

The same cannot be said for New York socialite Shevell, 48, who is currently vice-president of her family's successful transportation conglomerate.

She looked toned and healthy as she frolicked with McCartney in a white and green halter-neck bikini, clearly enjoying his company in the boiling 30C temperatures in Cancun.

The pair then decided to take a breather as they retired to a sun lounger, where they were pictured sharing an intimate kiss.

Their obvious affection for each other and lack of concern about potential onlookers is in stark contrast to the low profile they originally kept in the wake of McCartney's divorce.

However, since the £25 million pay-off to Mills was agreed, the couple have been snapped with increasing regularity, fuelling speculation over a possible engagement this year.

Of course, McCartney and Shevell are not the only couple who enjoy taking holidays in Cancun, as it is a hugely popular destination with tourists from all over the world.

The resort has grown in the past 20 years from being a deserted sand spit offshore from the tiny fishing village of Puerto Juarez into one of the most popular venues around.

There are fantastic opportunities for deep-sea fishing, diving or snorkelling - all within a short boat ride of the shore - while the fact that the sun shines for 253 days per year clearly helps.

The region is also full of hotels - 140,000 according to some estimates - which perhaps explains why around four million people can come to Cancun for holidays every year.
