Knightley shuns St Tropez and holidays in Indonesia
Keira Knightley proved the main attraction at the premiere of 'The Duchess' in London's Leicester Square earlier this week.

Her latest movie, in which she co-stars with English Patient actor Ralph Fiennes, follows the progress of the Duchess of Devonshire, a distant ancestor of Princess Diana, and provides Keira with yet another opportunity to display her acting prowess while cocooned tightly in a corset.

Appearing at the premiere in a rather less elaborate number than the dresses she would have been used to wearing in the 18th century period drama, Keira nevertheless looked every inch the film star - easily outshining the other celebrities on the red carpet, who included Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Anna Popplewell.

This is all the more remarkable given the "verbal attack" Keira was subjected to while out walking in London recently - an incident which has apparently left the Pirates of the Caribbean star "jumpy".

She was presumably relaxed enough before that, though, having recently returned from a holiday in Indonesia with her boyfriend Rupert Friend.

The south-east Asian country is world's fourth-most populous and notable for its large number of endemic species, 50,000-mile coastline, tropical climate and all-year round temperatures of between 26 and 30C.

Rather than plump for the St Tropez/Ibiza holiday favoured by many of today's stars, Knightley and Friend decided they could have as much fun a little further off the beaten track - and judging by pictures of the duo taken during their vacation this clearly appears to be the case.

Indeed, Keira caused something of a storm when she was pictured by the Sun out and about in Indonesia in attire which looked worryingly like her nightdress.

Friend, meanwhile, was sporting a pair of suspect swimming trunks of the type recently seen adorned on the bodies of Conservative party leader David Cameron and Four Weddings man Hugh Grant.

However, their sartorial sense didn't seem to be bothering them overly and they appeared to be doing their best to enjoy their holidays.

Those who follow in the footsteps of Knightley and Friend and go on holiday to Indonesia would do well to take in Jakarta on their trip.

The country's capital, which is also Indonesia's political and economical centre, has several high-class hotels and is described by Lonely Planet as being one of the region's "most exciting metropolises".

Holiday insurance is also an essential investment for anyone heading to south-east Asia.
