Perhaps it is the shock of facing the brink of bankruptcy or simply a fatigue with Spain, but Kerry Katona seems to have found the joy of a holiday on home soil.
The reality TV star, whose personal life is often the fodder of tabloid gossip columns, was spotted on a fishing trip in Godstone, Surrey.
She was accompanied on a her day out (no need for a
holiday flight) in the countryside by her daughter Heidi and strapping young fisherman Carl Machin, who appeared to be showing the former pop star the ropes.
Wearing a £38 Topshop jumper, the 29-year-old was pictured smiling and seemingly enjoying a wholesome family day out by the waterside.
Machin is Kerry's former road manager, from her days with all-girl trio Atomic Kitten.
A friend of Kerry's told MailOnline: "She had never been fishing, but I said it was something that I remembered doing with my dad when I was young."
Kerry also thought that a day out fishing would be right up her three-year-old daughter's street.
Godstone was a low-key choice for Kerry - it is a small village with a population of just 5,847 in the south-east of England.
A popular walking spot for those looking for a retreat from nearby London, the town has two conservation areas, Church Town and Godstone Green.
The former has timber-framed buildings, with a pubm the Packhorse, dating back to the 15th century.
Meanwhile, Godstone Green is a more modern, yet still relatively historic, part of the town.
The town's official website bills it as an "ancient village in the Surrey Hills" and lists a series of walks for visitors to enjoy.
One route takes ramblers from St Nicholas Church, which is at the heart of the town, to the Bay Pond Nature Reserve, which is maintained by Surrey Wildlife.
Other sites that visitors could take a walk to on a nice summer's day include the Rectory Pond, Graeme Hendry Woods, Leigh Mill and Horse Pond.
The website says: "Godstone is a delightful village, which is only three quarters of a mile south of junction 6 M25. A picturesque place to while away some hours."
By the looks of the smiles on their faces, it seems as if recently separated Kerry and her daughter would agree that Godstone is a gift from above.
