Hollywood celebs jet into UK to work and play

Actor George Clooney flew into London for the premiere of his new film Leatherheads and has been fully taking in the sights of the capital, while fitting in a few visits to his friends in high places.
The 46-year-old actor took a slight detour to number 10 Downing Street to have a chat with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, with whom he has become rather close of late.
Clooney, who is a United Nations "Messenger of Peace" has become an outspoken advocate of the troubled war-torn region of Darfur and has courted the assistance of Mr Brown, who he says has been "amazingly helpful" in helping to bring stability to the east African region.
The Prime Minister and his wife Sarah were more than happy to entertain the Hollywood star, who seems to be really making the most of his London trip.
The actor also made sure that his visit to London did not go by without him meeting up with old pal broadcaster Mariella Frostrup and new chum Jemima Khan.
Khan, the former girlfriend of actor Hugh Grant, and Clooney seemed to get on like a house on fire at a party thrown in the actor's honour by Harper's Bazaar editor Lucy Yeomans on Monday evening.
After all his partying, Clooney still looked the consummate Hollywood star and the walked the red carpet with Leatherheads co-star Renee Zellweger, who looked equally well turned out in a revealing tight-fitting burgundy number.
It seems the UK is the destination du jour for celebrities, as Hollywood It girl Paris Hilton jetted into Liverpool to meet boyfriend Benji Madden, who is currently touring the UK with his band Good Charlotte.
Perhaps in an effort to dispel claims of her diva-like behaviour, the heiress to the Hilton hotel dynasty checked in to an altogether more modest accommodation than the lavish palatial mansions she is used to back in Los Angeles.
Hilton stayed at the two-star Lord Nelson hotel which is located right in Liverpool's city centre. The budget hotel offers rooms at prices starting at a mere £45 a night and also features the Dug Out sports bar.
Onlookers said Hilton stayed in her room and later joined Madden for a drink at the bar. The couple were flocked by fans seeking autographs, prompting their security guard to keep star-struck hordes bay.
