Hamilton takes girlfriend to Portofino
Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton has been taking in the sights in the enchanting Italian city of Portofino with pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger ahead of this weekend's race in Monza.

Hamilton highlighted why he is the speed champion by taking to the water in an adrenalin-fuelled jet ski rush that saw his lover hanging on for dear life as they literally flew above the water.

Maybe Hamilton, who is having a rough time after being stuck mostly in the middle of the grid during this season's races, wanted to move at a speed faster than his current vehicle, retorted one reader of the Daily Mail, which has published pictures of the couple holidaying.

Hamilton and Scherzinger were seen descending from a huge luxurious yacht to take to the water, after which they engaged in a romantic stroll into the seaside town where they indulged in sightseeing and a spot of shopping.

Portofino is a small fishing village on Italy's north-west coast that is popular with holidaying tourists due to its location on the Italian Riviera.

According to the Telegraph, it is one of most enchanting and attractive destinations in the popular region and boasts a picturesque harbour equipped with luxury yachts.

This holiday destination 'retains the charm of the original fishing village despite its jet-set reputation', says the newspaper, which adds: 'Summer at the Italian Riviera's most exclusive resort cannot be beaten'.

A different review from the Conde Nast Traveller says the town is 'one of the most perfect, most photogenic fishing ports in the Mediterranean' and has long drawn high-profile figures.

There are also a lot of restaurants and eateries worth checking out in the town, as well as classical and modern attractions that will make walking around a rewarding experience.

Meanwhile, holidaymakers have been advised to shop around before purchasing any travel insurance because new research shows that consumers buying from their agents are paying nearly 500 per cent more than is necessary for the cover.

Some 40 per cent of all travel insurance policies were sold by travel agents last year, according to the Association of British Travel Agents and Datamonitor.

To make notable savings, however, Confused.com has recommended shopping around for better deals because it is not mandatory to take travel cover from the same place from which one is getting a holiday.

"Price comparison sites enable consumers to trawl the market for the most suitable travel insurance policies on offer," said Steve Williams, the head of travel insurance at Confused.com.

"While holiday insurance is a must-have, it makes little sense to pay through the nose for it, especially when shopping around for a better deal is likely to save consumers money."
