Gisele Bundchen in Brazil

Gisele Bundchen in Brazil
Leggy supermodel Gisele Bundchen went back to her roots for a holiday with her baby boy Benjamin.

Mother and son were spotted relaxing in Barra Do Ribeiro, near Porto De Alegre, Brazil, ahead of her sister's wedding, at which Gisele was the maid of honour.

The 29-year-old supermodel was also accompanied by her football player husband Tom Brady, who is the father of her 16-week-old son.

While Gisele, famously a former squeeze of Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio, wore a pink layered Missoni 2005 dress during the ceremony her, New England Patriots player husband Tom looked after their child.

Gisele's twin sister was marrying Rodrigo Pereira at the Laurentia Vineyard and the ceremony marked little Benjamin's first holiday abroad.

Gisele told reporters during the trip that she only speaks Portuguese to her son to help him get a sense of his Brazilian heritage.

She said: "I only talk in Portuguese when I'm with him. I think he must get used to the language and learn it - it is important to be bilingual. He's not just Brady, he's a Bundchen too."

Porto De Alegre is the capital of the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul and is a popular tourist destination domestically in Brazil.

It is located on the banks of the Guaiba River and is an ideal place for tourists to visit who are looking to experience gaucho culture.

The city blends Brazilian-Portuguese and Platinian-Spanish cultures and is one of Brazil's richest metropolises where residents enjoy the highest quality of life and literacy rate.

Porto Alegre's International Airport flies to a range of domestic destinations, such as Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as well as other Latin American cities, including Buenos Aires and Montevideo. It is a modern hub, which was built in 2001 and features a shopping mall, restaurants and even a cinema inside.

There is a train station which links the airport with the city centre. Taxis are also available but tourists are warned they can be expensive. Boat transport is limited, as while Porto De Alegre is a port city, the facility is mainly used to transport cargo.

While Gisele spent most of her trip to the Brazilian metropolis relaxing with family, there is plenty for the average tourist to see and do in the city.

The sunset over Porto Alegre's main river, Guaíba, is well-known and best viewed from Gasômetro and Ipanema. Meanwhile, those looking for some culture should take a trip to the Santuário Mãe de Deus church, which offers great panoramic views of the city and is considered a fine example of modern architecture - it was built in 1992.
