With its palm tree-lined streets, countless boutiques and Hollywood culture, it is not hard to see what drew pop star Cheryl Cole to LA in the American state of California.
The diminutive star jetted off to the glamorous city after her marriage to British football star Ashley Cole hit the rocks, amid claims he had enjoyed extra marital relations with several other women.
Cole departed the UK from Heathrow Airport and made the most of LA's party scene, being snapped on a night out on the tiles wearing a shiny brown dress.
During her
holiday, Cheryl also visited the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood with a showbiz friend and took advantage of LA's recording facilities, mixing work with pleasure.
The 26-year-old also took the time to catch up with Dancing With The Stars's dancer Derek Hough and the pair visited Japanese restaurant Katsuya with some of his friends.
LA is a city that has been attracting celebrities for decades and holidaymakers have never been far behind, keen to discover what lures some of the world's most glamorous performers to the US city.
And LA has capitalised on their fascination. In Beverley Hills visitors can take bus tours of the plush estates where actors and musicians have lived, while their tour guide points out the current and previous residences of some of the world's most rich and famous.
Meanwhile, those wanting to glimpse a celebrity outside the gated walls of their home can take a trip to Sunset Strip on a night time and hang out in LA's coolest bars, in the hope of a rare but coveted sighting.
When it comes to shopping, LA is second to none. The world-famous Rodeo Drive is a seemingly never-ending strip of boutiques offering shoppers the chance to buy expensive gowns or bargain bohemian outfits. The likes of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are regularly spotted ducking in and out of the shops here.
Furthermore, for those with transport there is a plethora of shopping malls all around LA, which are fully air conditioned, providing some much-needed respite from the sometimes relentless heat.
Families taking a trip in LA may want to venture out to Universal Studios, which is a sizeable theme park based on some of the biggest movies of the last 60 years. Furthermore, Disneyland California is located about an hour's drive away in the nearby resort of Anaheim and is guaranteed to bring a smile to visitors' faces, no matter what age they are.
