Celebs head to the sun
Though the recent good weather in the UK was enough for millions of ordinary Brits to head out into the park in an attempt to catch a bit of sun, for some celebrities it still wasn't enough and they packed their bags and jetted off for a genuine tropical paradise.

Ingrid Tarrant for example took her mind off her ongoing divorce case with Who Wants to be a Millionaire presenter Chris, with a trip to Barbados with GMTV's Penny Smith.

The pair seemed to be without a care in the world as they socialised with a pair of mystery men on the beaches of the popular Caribbean island, with the Swede attracting the attention of fellow holidaymakers through her sporting nothing more than a bikini.

Penny's actor boyfriend Vince Leigh was also in Barbados and the party enjoyed the island's excellent restaurants and famous cocktails together in their beachside complex.

Another girls-only holiday has also been taking place in the heat of Dubai, where Alex Curran enjoyed some time away from Merseyside, where husband Steven Gerrard remained to play for Liverpool and look after their two children.

The 25-year old was spotted relaxing on the beach and lounging by the pool of her £2,000-a-week luxury villa while enjoying the company of fellow WAGS, Jude Cicce and Claire Henry, ex-wives of French football stars Djibril Cisse and Thierry Henry respectively.

The Emirate of Dubai, along with Dubai City, has emerged as one of the favourite holiday destinations for footballers and their friends and families over recent years due to its year-round sun and luxurious tourist infrastructure, which includes the world's only seven-star hotel, the 321-metre tall Burj Al Arab.

Those travellers whose budgets don't quite stretch to making use of the hotel's very own helicopter pad can nevertheless find a fascinating country driven by one of the world's fastest growing economies but which still holds onto its Arabic traditions and boasts some spectacular coastal and desert scenery just a brief drive from the heart of the city.

At the same time, Sienna Miller put her failure to pick up an award at the recent Baftas behind her and flew out to Los Angeles, while both Melanie Brown and Isla Fisher were taking time out from their busy schedules by relaxing with their daughters in New York.

In addition, some of Hollywood's biggest names gathered in Perth, in the west of Australia, to attend the funeral of Heath Ledger.

Cate Blanchett and the actor's ex-fiance Michelle Williams were among the guests who flew over to the city, which is popular among travellers looking to get an alternative taste of Australia and enjoy easy access to the Outback.
