If anyone needs a holiday, it's Britney Spears. She was an international pop sensation in her teen years, had a psychological breakdown in her twenties and by the age of 30 was divorced twice.
It's been a rollercoaster for Britters.
But pictures of her relaxing on the beach with her boyfriend Jason Trawick seem to prove that the dark days are behind the Baby One More Time singer - or maybe that's just the effect of the Hawaiian sun.
Either way, Britney was looking great in her turquoise bikini as she sipped on a cocktail on the exotic island, looking very much in love.
Jason, who is Britney's agent and has provided crucial support for her during a difficult period, also looked relaxed and focussed on keeping his girlfriend in good spirits on the
holiday.
Now the pair are dating, he has stopped working for the Louisiana superstar in a bid to keep their relationship strictly unprofessional.
The pair fuelled speculation that their romance is set to go up a gear by spending an afternoon watching a wedding ceremony from the privacy of their Hawaiian hotel balcony.
Spears and her 44-year-old beau are staying in a luxury suite, which has an unspoiled view of Mauii's Wailea coast.
However, Britney has not kicked all of her vices. She was photographed in a pink and black bikini earlier in the trip smoking a cigarette.
But she and Jason have made an effort to atone for the smoking with healthy trips to the pool and by indulging in spa treatments, as well as enjoying the odd gourmet meal.
Hawaii is a popular destination for couples and those seeking to escape the rat race as its serene beaches and coastline are considered an oasis in a frenetic world.
The birthplace of the 44th US president Barack Obama, the emerald islands boast sculpted cliffs perfect for hiking, coral reef cities that provide brilliant diving ground, and miles of pristine beach excellent for sun bathing.
Meanwhile, Hawaii is also a great place to indulge in water sports, with many of its coastlines a favourite with surfers seeking out some seriously bodacious waves.
However, with seven million tourists descending on Hawaii each year it is not quite the heaven on earth it used to be. Those seeking the serenity that Britney managed to find will need to head out of the main resorts and opt for Oahu's Waikki or West Maui - or, if on a budget, the Big Island of Kauai. Here grass skirts and cocktails with umbrellas bobbing up and down are more of a rarity, giving holidaymakers the chance to get to grips with the real Hawaii.
